Welcome to ICACCP 2017
The Department of Computer Science and Engineering(CSE), Sikkim Manipal Institute of Technology (SMIT) organized the First International Conference on Advanced Computational and Communication Paradigms (ICACCP-2017) from the 8th to 10th of September, 2017 at the institute premises in Majitar, Sikkim. This conference on advanced engineering and science has seen a gathering of scientists, engineers, academicians and industry personnel discussing on various topics ranging from artificial intelligence, robotics, and mobile communications to geographical information systems and internet of things. Distinguished scholars from the United States of America, Romania, Singapore and India were seen interacting with participants from countries like Australia, Bangladesh, Afghanistan, various states from all corners of India along with the students of SMIT.
The event was being sponsored by the Science and Engineering Research Board (SERB), Department of Science and Technology (DST), Govt. of India, Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO), Govt. of India, IXIA Tech. Pvt. Ltd, India, NETSPEQ Solution, SOLARIZE Global, Chorus Power. Being technically co-sponsored by the IEEE Kolkata Section and IEEE Computational Intelligence Society, Kolkata Chapter bearing IEEE Conference Record # 42882, the world’s largest technical professional organization for the advancement of technology and Computer Society of India (CSI), Kolkata Region, the research papers presented in the conference have been published by published by two volumes in Springer (Advances Intelligent Systems and Computing (AISC) and Lecture Notes in Electrical Engineering (LNEE) and indexed in ISI Proceedings, DBLP, EI-Compendex, SCOPUS, etaPress, Springerlink), a leading technology publishing house in their Advances in Intelligent Systems and Computing (AISC) (http://www.springer.com/in/book/9789811082368) and Lecture Notes in Electrical Engineering (LNEE) series of transactions (http://www.springer.com/in/b /9789811082399).
Authors of selected papers also had the chance to have their extended works published in SCI and SCOPUS indexed journals and special issues on

An event of this scale is a first for Sikkim and has been very high on the popularity scale among researchers seeking to showcase their work, which is evident from the number of submissions the conference committee received. Among the 550 papers submitted, the strict quality screening method put in place accepted only 144 papers for publication (26% Acceptance). The accepted articles were then presented over 16 technical sessions in the field of the fields of Computer Networking and Data Communication, Cyber Security, Signal Processing, Computational and Artificial Intelligence, Computer Vision and Image Processing, Computational Perception and Cognition, Human Computer Interaction, Adaptive Computation and Machine Learning to name a few over a stretch of three days from 08th to 10th September 2017. The sessions were chaired by academicians and professionals from technical organizations. The organizers are very hopeful that the conference will be noticed worldwide and would most certainly be ranked high on the list of similar conferences.
ICACCP-2017 was a remarkable milestone achieved where delegates from various National and International Institutes of repute were invited to share their scientific achievements. This not only proved crucial for the members of the faculty of the institute but also acquainted students to the recent trends in the technological sciences. Few of the notable speakers who delivered the keynote address includes (i) Prof.(Dr.) Shubhalaxmi Kher, Arkansas State University, USA (ii) Prof. (Dr.) Biplab Sikdar, National University of Singapore, Singapore (iii) Prof.(Dr.) Valentina Emila Balas, Aurel Vlaicu University of Arad, Romania (iv) Prof.(Dr.) Bijaya Ketan Panigrahi, Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi, India (v) Dr. Atma Sahu, Coppin State University, USA Dr. Tapan Kumar Gandhi, Assistant Professor, Department of Electrical Engineering, Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi, India, Dr. Nabendu Chaki, Professor, Department of Computer Science and Engineering, University of Calcutta, Kolkata, India. The event also featured an evening of of entertainment, where guests and participants were given glimpses of North-East Indian culture and heritage through events performed by Department of Culture, Govt. of Sikkim and students of SMIT.
The conference had obtained the clearances from Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), Govt. of India, Ministry of Home Affairs, Govt. of India, Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (Meity), Govt. of India, Ministry of Human Resource and Development (MHRD), Govt. of India, Dept. of Science & Technology (DST), Govt. of Sikkim.
Technologists, Scientists, Industry Professionals and Research Scholars from Regional, National and International levels are being invited to present their original unpublished work in this conference. ICACCP-2017 intends to provide a platform to present, share and exchange results, ideas and views regarding their original research work, and also to explore scope for future collaboration amongst people from Academia, Industry, and Research Community.
The Sikkim Manipal Institute of Technology (SMIT), a constituent college of the Sikkim Manipal University is located on the banks of river Teesta amidst lush green hills in the state of Sikkim, India. The Sikkim Manipal Institute of Technology was established in 1997 as a constituent college of Sikkim Manipal University and is approved by AICTE. SMIT had the distinction of prestigious accreditation for engineering disciplines by National Board of Accreditation (NBA)/ACCR-860/06 dated 22 January 2008. SMIT has ISO 9001 accreditation vide NS-ENISO9001:2008 for all its courses. The Engineering College has its own campus at Majhitar, Rangpo, East Sikkim. It is safe, secure and provides excellent academic environment.
The department of Computer Science and Engineering at SMIT was started in the year 1997 and has been producing excellent graduates and post-graduates over the years. The current AICTE approved intake is180 per year for B. Tech and 18 for M. Tech courses. The department also conducts PhD program in Computer Science and Engineering in Sikkim.
